Turf Tarts 2010

Ladies, below are some options to think about for next years week-end get away. If there is any interest I can look into costs for all/some of the below. Please let me know your likes/hates so I can get a feeling for what interests the majority. I will look into the options that interest people and can have the packages ready for discussion for when we meet early 2010. Cheryl & Cindy I believe are also looking into accommodation/golfing options.

  1. Ranch Option
Check out the link, this could be fun. We could stay Thursday in the Chalet, Friday out in the out back and than Saturday back in the chalet recouping from our out door adventure. Or we could always stay in the chalet all nights and just do a hour or two ride.

  2. Chalet Description
Nestled amongst tall aspen and spruce trees are four chalets, with a campfire pit nearby to warm up the brisk mountain evenings. These self-contained units come complete with kitchenette, a living room with a wood burning fireplace, and a private bathroom.
The Chalets make a spectacular setting for your corporate meetings, and are well suited for company team building functions!
  3. Outback trip Description
Pack trips are available! Thinking about camping this weekend? Do something different this time with friends and family. An overnight trip on horseback may be just what you're looking for. Hit the trail with our very own Cowboy Poet - BJ Smith. He is an experienced wrangler and certified Wilderness Packer. Experience the backcountry - wildlife is abundant, flowers are blooming and summer is just around the corner! Don't forget your camera!
  4. Vegas Option
Do I need to say more!
  5. Spa Option
Stay in Banff on Tunnel Mountain and hit the Banff Springs spa for the day, do one day of golf at Kananaskis.
  6. Back Pack Adventure
I would need to look into this one as we would need to contract a guide/company...not sure if anyone would be remotely interested in this one - it would motivate us to get in shape.
  7. Cranbrook or area
Look into this area for accommodations & golfing....would have a higher probability of good weather.
  8. Phoenix
My house can/has slept 9 and we probably could sleep 4 at Rick & Roxy's (my neighbors) but this may be a bit costly for week-end outing...golf & shopping would be cheap.
  9. Stay in the Invermere/Windemere Area
    This has always been fun!

Turf Tarts 2009 - That's a Wrap

Ladies, Thank you for a wonderful weekend of conversation, "Birdies", sunshine and lots of laughs. Thank you to our founder Michele, for the wonderful idea of starting the Turf Tarts. It's become a tradition of ladies getting together and having fun. We all loved our hats and especially me because it fits my pin head with a little extra room....lol. Thank you Campbell's, Canada Bread, Olivieri and my broker (desserts, cheese, guacamole) for supplying some of the food to keep the costs down. A huge thank you to Angie for making her fantabulous cevechi. Yum, yum and for providing the shrimp. Thank you to Elliott for looking after and booking our Tee Times in January to ensure we all golfed together. Three years in a row ladies. He is an official Turf Tart that wore his shirt from last year all weekend while he worked on the course. He said he had a lot of fun explaining it to people. Thank you Cindy for ordering our wonderful jackets. I think everyone will wear them with some good memories. Barb, thank you for the panties. We left ours on some guys big truck hoping his wife would ask questions. Thank you Lynn for the sanitizer and Kleenex. Sure came in handy!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the accommodations. Last year we decided it was unfair to Shelly to host as she can't sit back and relax. So, we all decided to look around for something else. Unfortunately I found a place that didn't meet everyone's needs or expectations. When he said it slept 12, I thought it slept 12. Also didn't think there would be a musty basement. Michele has some new thoughts for next year to switch it up a little. There is discussions of moving the tournament to another region. I'll let her post that out to you.

Survey for suggestions for next year (before everything is booked):

  1. What are people willing to pay for accommodations, food, shared booze, clothing?
  2. What are your expectations for that amount?
  3. Do you even want Turf Tarts gear?
  4. What are your expectations for golf courses?
  5. What are you willing to pay?
  6. Do you want to be able to sit outside and make noise around a fire pit or is staying inside ok?
  7. Do you want everyone under one roof or do you want separate accommodations?
  8. Is it important to eat together and make meals or would you prefer a restaurant?
  9. How many bathrooms?
  10. Food allergens etc should be communicated
  11. Special food requests should be communicated. If there is something you want, let Michele know. i.e. steaks or burgers
  12. If you are committed to go, payment should be made in June. If you back out you loose your money unless someone fills your spot.
  13. A list of people will be put out and travel arrangements can be made amongst everyone.

Any complaints, suggestions or concerns should be expressed at the end of the trip, not throughout the weekend. It can't be changed, so lets make the best of it and change it the following year. Once again, thank you for a wonderful weekend.
